I Can Has Grilled Cheeze!

I think I am experiencing some end-of-summer blues. Granted, we can still have lovely weather for a while yet, but the air has that autumn feel to it and the long summer evenings are quickly disappearing.

Fortunately, I have some consolation.

I am eating as many grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches as I can manage. With tomatoes that I grew my-own-self, and my beloved Balderson Extra-Old White Cheddar.

I believe I have had one of these sandwiches per day for the past four days. Plus a couple of bacon and tomato, for good measure.

I’ve also got plenty of grape and cherry tomatoes to go in salads.

So I guess things aren’t all that bad.

Hurricane Earl amounted to nothing more than a rainy Saturday in these parts, and by late afternoon the sun was out.

We had a holiday Monday to laze around the house.

True, the holiday is over and we’re back to work. But it’s a four-day week – and here it is Wednesday already – so another weekend is not far away. And more grilled cheese & tomato sandwiches to be eaten!

I guess I don’t need to worry about winter just yet.

beautiful pictures, that sunflower is amazing! We never had summer in cowtown this year so its hard to notice a difference between fall and summer officially... you know its bad when the weather man states on air that its been fall temps since June! LOL

Sagan - not sure my throwing arm can reach that distance! Definitely a good reason to buy bread.

Shirls - That's too bad. We had a really crappy summer last year and it made me cranky. Hope you at least have a nice fall!

Ooooo - that grilled cheese & tomato looks delicious (extra-old cheese makes excellent grilled cheese sandwiches, doesn't it?).
We, too, have been eating a lot of sandwiches with fresh home-grown tomatoes. I've also started canning tomatoes for use later. I'm hoping there will be enough ripe today or tomorrow to make salsa for canning! Yum.

I am so jealous of everyone who has ripe tomatoes! I am not sure there is anything I love more than a grilled tomato & cheese sandwich.

Well...maybe my husband. But only if we're not talking about heirloom tomatoes.

Bag Lady - the aged cheddar does make an excellent grilled cheese! I wish I had enough tomatoes for canning, but I will at least get some from the farmer's market to make and can some salsa.

Amy - I do love my garden ripe tomatoes. Nothing like tomatoes straight from the garden.
