My Quiet Rebellion

I've read a few posts this week about Easter Candy. Or, more specifically, getting read of the Easter Candy. Banish the chocolate! Throw it in the trash! Just get rid of it!

I do sort of understand that, even while I wince at the idea of throwing perfectly good chocolate in the trash. Okay, so I'm assuming "good chocolate" here because that's what I would buy. As a matter of fact, there is a Lindt Dark Chocolate Bunny upstairs with my name on it at this very moment. Am I going to throw it in the trash? Not a chance. It may sit around for a while until I decide to eat it, but it will not be thrown in the garbage. If it's bad chocolate...well...you shouldn't have bought it in the first place. I'm just sayin'.

This morning, I was sitting in the living room, looking out the window, eating my breakfast and drinking my coffee as I do most mornings. Want to know what I was eating? A whole wheat English Muffin with Nutella. It dawned on me that not only was I eating chocolate, I was eating it for breakfast.

"So be it!" I said to myself. I absolutely realize that in order to lose weight, one might have to give certain things up. I also realize that eating for health is even more important than eating to lose weight. But. You still need to eat food that leaves you satisfied. I enjoyed every bite of my breakfast, and was indeed quite satisfied...All the way to 1:00 as a matter of fact, at which point I decided it was time to eat the healthy lunch that I had packed for myself.

Yes I am on a diet. Yes I will eat chocolate. For breakfast.

So there.

Love it! That's right, eat that chocolate cuz we all deserve a bit of sweetness in our lives.

Loved the "so there" comment. That gave me the giggles ;)

I bought no Easter candy, so I had none to banish. *sigh*

I eat chocolate every day. Either a vita-muffin or a Fiber One bar ... or sometimes even yummier things. I'm pretty sure chocolate is a necessary food group.

Chocolate IS a necessary food group, as happyblogchick pointed out! It has all kinds of benefits, and if you'll just give the Bag Lady a minute to think about it, she'll make some up!

Haha way to be!! I completely agree with you. Chocolate should not be thrown away (unless it's that gross chocolate that is made is mass quantities around Halloween and tastes like plastic). It should be eaten, everyday, that's what it's for. There's no rule that you can't make room in a diet for a little chocolate everyday!

i have yet to try nutella, maybe i should pick-up a jar this weekend... i think you hit the nail on the head - losing weight is hard enough, giving up foods you enjoy isn't necessary as long as you keep portions small... i love pizza and mexican food and have eaten it since day one on WW - and have still lost weight... :o)
