I've read a few posts this week about Easter Candy. Or, more specifically, getting read of the Easter Candy. Banish the chocolate! Throw it in the trash! Just get rid of it!
I do sort of understand that, even while I wince at the idea of throwing perfectly good chocolate in the trash. Okay, so I'm assuming "good chocolate" here because that's what I would buy. As a matter of fact, there is a Lindt Dark Chocolate Bunny upstairs with my name on it at this very moment. Am I going to throw it in the trash? Not a chance. It may sit around for a while until I decide to eat it, but it will not be thrown in the garbage. If it's bad chocolate...well...you shouldn't have bought it in the first place. I'm just sayin'.
This morning, I was sitting in the living room, looking out the window, eating my breakfast and drinking my coffee as I do most mornings. Want to know what I was eating? A whole wheat English Muffin with Nutella. It dawned on me that not only was I eating chocolate, I was eating it for breakfast.
"So be it!" I said to myself. I absolutely realize that in order to lose weight, one might have to give certain things up. I also realize that eating for health is even more important than eating to lose weight. But. You still need to eat food that leaves you satisfied. I enjoyed every bite of my breakfast, and was indeed quite satisfied...All the way to 1:00 as a matter of fact, at which point I decided it was time to eat the healthy lunch that I had packed for myself.
Yes I am on a diet. Yes I will eat chocolate. For breakfast.
