Spring Has Sprung

Okay, according to the calendar it's been spring for a while, but it finally feels like it. The weather has been warming up, the snow is gone, my cats want to be outside a whole lot more. And today I went outside!

I finally made the time to get out and check the state of my flowerbeds today. There I am in my gardening boots.

I was happy to see green poking up already.

The lawn is not looking very green yet, but it will come.

This patch of Creeping Thyme is starting to turn green already.

I put in two new types of bulbs last fall. Looks like these ones will bloom before too long.

New Violas put in last year survived the winter and I have my first flower.

Much as they enjoy the freedom of being able to roam around the fenced in area of the yard, there are on occasion complaints from Fred and George.

Photobucket

They've staked out the gate - I fear I may be trapped...

But fortunately I manage a quick exit while the boys are distracted. How mean do I feel, locking my babies in like that. Better safe than sorry though. I want to keep them safe.

Hopefully next weekend I be able to get out and start cleaning up the flower beds. Things are farther along than I realized. I'm looking forward to getting out and playing in the dirt.

I had a good day. Got lots of laundry done. Got in a good workout. Made some oatmeal and put it in the fridge for breakfasts this week. Cut up a head of cauliflower to have ready in the fridge for lunches. Feel like I was really on top of things today. Of course I never manage to get as much done as I hope to, but that's not the end of the world.

I was also really hungry today for some reason. But for the most part, I think I did ok.

i did some serious yard/bed work today as well - felt great to be outside and doing something productive... there's just something about pulling weeds and getting my hands dirty... ;o)

i LOVE your kitties, they are so cute! wish ours could go outside but they're strictly indoor cats - too much traffic and a huge german shepard lives next door... :o(

OMIGOSH, KITTIES! They are SO cute! I LOVE them! (I'm such a sucker for long-haired kitties!)

Cute boots, too!!!

The Bag Lady is jealous of your blue gardening boots. She really must get something a little more attractive for herself other than the green, insulated rubber boots she wears all winter!
She is also jealous of your flower. She has no flowers yet, but she does have lots of little sprouts here and there, and her chives are making out like gang-busters! Her strawberries are taking over the yard, too!

I bet it's nice to see some green and even a flower blooming after all these months. Your kitties look pretty cute out there!

Jodi: We intended ours to be indoor cats, but they refused to accept it. So we put up the cat fence, and now we're all happy.

Haley-o: Would you believe that we thought Fred would be a short-haired cat when he was a kitten? He had short fur when he was teeny, but it gradually got longer and thicker and now he has the more luxurious coat. Can't complain - he is so soft & cuddly.

Bag Lady: I confess, I got the blue rubber boots in the children's section at Walmart. It seems there are more pretty colours available in kids sizes. I do remember a pretty pair of polka-dot ones in the Women's section, but none of them were small enough to fit me.

Also, that flower bed at the end of the house is always the first place things start happening. It's quite sheltered and it gets lots of sun.

Crystal: It is nice to see things growing. I'm happy the snow is gone, but things look a little bleak at the moment. Seeing things start to grow lets me know that it won't be long until the world turns green again. Well...My world anyway. :)

Cute post! :)

My cat sooo wants to go out side... he has a really long lead that he goes on, but I wish I could just let him wonder in the yard.

Sounds like you really have a good start on the week with everything. :)

Slowly things are picking up here getting greener...

your flowerbeds look so weed-free compared to mine! I need to get out and play in the dirt, too.
