Wednesday

Happy to have peaches again! I bought a basket on Sunday, and they seemed a little hard so I gave them a couple of days to get ripe…now they are starting to go bad so I’m trying to eat them as fast as I can. Which is ok, because I am quite happy to stuff my face with peaches…

Back to my favorite breakfast:

IMG_6582

There’s about a peach and a half on top of my cereal, since I had to cut out some bad spots.

I met a friend for lunch today, which was a nice change from eating at my desk. We went to Lemongrass and I had the Curry Noodle Bowl from the lunch menu, with Green Curry. I didn’t get a picture, which was a shame since the presentation was very nice. It was also very tasty! But I only at half of it, then I was full.

Part way through the afternoon, I had a LaraBar. I confess, I did not actually take a picture – but you wouldn’t have known if I didn’t tell you! I knew I could just reuse a photo from another day.

After work I took Fred for a little walk. I’ve been trying to do it as soon as I get home, since it’s getting dark earlier and earlier. Here we are – me all glamorous in my dress trousers from work, tucked into my rubber boots.

Fred was in a wandering mood today. He was ready to forge right through into the wilderness…

IMG_6586

But I’ve learned from experience that there are thorny bushes ahead, and you don’t want to be wandering through there when you are wearing your good clothes.

So we came back to the house and I changed into my workout gear and did my second to last Boot Camp workout.

There was leftover soup in the fridge, from last night, and I had leftovers from lunch, so supper was easy peasy!

Husband had the soup. I made myself a small salad and heated up my leftover noodles.

I made a small salad with romaine, cucumber and tomatoes. For a simple salad dressing, I chopped up a bit of ginger and serrano chili from the plant in my kitchen, and mixed in some seasoned rice vinegar and a bit of sesame oil. Done!

Then I settled in to watch Castle (or, as I like to call it, the Nathan Fillion show – he is just so much fun to watch).

IMG_6601

I had made just a small salad, because I was thinking might like to have some yogurt with a sliced up peach for dessert, but I was quite content after finishing my salad and noodles, so I’m done for the night.

First day of fall

I won’t say a word about how it would have been nice to actually have summer. Ahem.

It’s late, so this will be quick…

Snack before bed last night  to handle the hollow belly – bread with peanut butter did the trick.

IMG_6552

This morning, in an effort to avoid a repeat of the starved-by-dinner thing, I had two pieces of toast. Also a pear, which I took to work and ate around mid-morning.

IMG_6557

Sorry about the photos – hard when there is no natural light and it was gloomy this morning.

Lunch was delicious and I would buy this again (sorry, wasn’t paying attention and got the French side):

Late afternoon, I felt like I needed a little something, so I had:

After work took Fred for a little walk, while George looked on from the yard (poor baby)…

Then I hit the treadmill for some intervals. Felt hard today for some reason, but I was able to complete my routine without feeling like I was pushing it, so I did my intervals and got in a nice long walk to cool down. Then just as I was getting off the treadmill Pop Goes The World came on my iPod, and I felt the need to bounce around my basement until it was over. It’s just that kinda song. Go download it. Now. Pop Goes the World by Men Without Hats. Then you too can bounce around your house with a silly grin on your face. What? That’s not convincing? Huh.

Soup’s On…

Husband came home from work not feeling well, so he wanted our traditional cure – soup with lots of hot spice, ginger & garlic.

IMG_6567  IMG_6569

Husband cut up a couple of chicken breasts. I chopped up some garlic and ginger, along with some tofu. Threw all that in the pan with a little oil and some Tom Yum paste. Let it saute a bit then threw in the broth and got it simmering while I chopped veggies. When the chicken was cooked through, I tasted the broth and made some additions so that it would be more hot and more sour, then threw in the veggies just long enough for them to be tender-crisp.

I had also cooked some noodles. They went in the bowl, then the soup got ladled on top.

Evian should really sponsor me. I drink a bottle every day.

Sat down with my soup to watch the season premiere of House from last night, which was two hours – which is why I’m behind schedule here, two hours of TV instead of one.

For some added dinner excitement, Fred brought in a very tiny, very lively mouse. So I had to jump up, grab my gardening gloves and catch the poor thing. It really was tiny. And wiggly. I caught it, but then lost it trying to open the door while holding on to it. Caught it again and took it outside to set on the step. Once I put it down outside it didn’t run immediately so I got to have a look at it. Cute little thing it was and it doesn’t seem like it was injured at all. Now hopefully it’s smart enough not to turn around and run right back into the cat enclosure.

Decided I needed a little dessert tonight – sliced peach and Mocha Yogurt.

Dishes done. Blogging done. I’m off to bed.

Chinese Night!

It was a bright, sun-shiney day; my favorite kind! Though I had to work, so I was inside for most of it. But I was out for a bit this afternoon and it was lovely.

Actually changed up breakfast today; whole wheat toast with peanut butter & jam and a pear.

Photobucket

I have MaraNatha Almond Butter & Peanut Butter, but they are supposed to be refrigerated and I like my peanut butter to melt on my toast, so I end up using good old Kraft for my toast. I love peanut butter!

And here is my lunch all ready to go - salad and avocado with lime to go on top at lunch time:

I took a picture part way through lunch:

There is a lot of eating in that container of salad. Definitely getting too cold for salad now though, I will have to make a batch of soup to freeze this weekend so I can start having warm lunches again.

Afternoon snack:

Counting down the FBBC workouts...1 down, 2 to go. Here's a challenge I bet Angie didn't envision when she was designing her workout - feline obstacles. Imagine being at the top of a push up position, mid-mountain climber, when a cat suddenly walks under your chest and starts rubbing up against your arms. Totally took me by surprise. So I did have a little break in there today to give George his cuddles; I tried to get back to the workout before he was ready, and he let me know by walking under me again - good incentive to hold your plank pose though, certainly didn't want to squash my cat.

Then it was time to make supper - I was starving! Today we made Chinese Tomato Salad, Hoisin Pork with Garlic Noodles and Broccoli & Snow Pea Stir-Fry. Don't you wish you were having dinner at my house?

I promise you, there were noodles underneath the pork & veggies. It all turned out perfectly - the pork ended up with a lovely glaze on it, the veggies were still crisp and just lightly flavored. Yum!

I was really hungry after my workout/when we started making supper - had that hollow feeling you know? I was surprised that I scarfed down all of that supper, and to top it off I still feel a bit hungry. Thinking maybe breakfast was not substantial enough? My lunch and snack were pretty normal.

It's been a good half hour since supper and I still feel empty, so I think I may have a dish of yogurt. Maybe I'll try some water first to make sure that's not it.
As the weekend progressed, things would happen and I'd think that was fun or interesting and I'll have to mention it when I do my weekend post...But then, as usual, but the time I got around to writing a post I was tired and I just wanted it done and I forgot all of the interesting bits...Sigh.

So here I am taking a quick break this morning to share some thoughts.

I loved the dress I bought to wear to the wedding on Saturday. I felt good in it. The colour and the style suited me so well (I thought). This morning I was on Facebook and a friend who was at the wedding posted a picture of a group of us with the bride, and there I was in my dress and I look huge!

I can't help it - that bothers me. People love to talk about how your weight and appearance shouldn't matter. As long as you are healthy, who cares what dress size you wear? But it's so very hard when you are feeling good about how you look and then you see a photo and you think: how can that be me? It just does not match up with how I feel. That probably sounds crazy, but there it is.

I have to say though, one of the first things that popped into my head when I saw the picture is that I resembled my grandmother. She died when I was 13. I've often been told that I have her hair, that I have many of her mannerisms and am a lot like her, personality-wise. I have only good memories of my grandmother, I really loved her, so to me those were always positive comments. But that's the first time I have ever looked at myself and thought I looked like her figure-wise.

She was much taller than me, of course, I inherited my height from the other side (maternal) of the family. And I always thought that my build was similar to the women on my Mom's side of the family as well.

I never would have called my grandmother fat, mind you. I would have said she had a generous figure. I'm not sure how there is a difference there, but it seems to me like there is. I remember her being an active lady so I think she was physically fit and healthy before she got sick.

Anyway...I think I've gone on a tangent and I may have originally had a point...Oh yes...Maybe I really can't help being the size I am. Maybe it is genetics. I've been noticing lately that as I am working out, doing my boot camp routines, I feel good. I feel fit. Until I look in a mirror.

I don't know how to let go of that. I don't think I want to get comfortable with how I look now. Maybe that's the problem.

I think I will publish this now, before I change my mind...

Weekend Recap

IMG_6505

I don’t have much in the way of food photos for the weekend – a lot of eating away from home where I didn’t get pictures.

Saturday morning I sat down with coffee and book – The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society  which I just love! I enjoyed my coffee, then did my final boot camp workout for the week.

Then I had a shower and something to eat:

And finished my gift wrapping. Look at this rascal…

Then it was time to get ready to go. I don’t have an actual photo of me, but I have photos of the dress and shoes I wore to the wedding.

IMG_6507IMG_6510

I would have asked Husband to take a picture, but the wedding was at 2:00 and we were running late. Out the door around 1:30 and just made it in time. It actually started to rain just as we arrived, so we got wet going from the car to the church…and then it stopped and the sun started shining again.

It was sunny for most of the day, though definitely on the cool side.

We were out of the house from 1:30 to around midnight yesterday. It was a long day, but it was a fun wedding since a lot of our friends were there.

This morning I got up and had a very similar breakfast, except no peaches (I’m all out) and no workout between cups of coffee.

IMG_6541

I spent the morning trying to get some housecleaning and laundry done, then we met up with friends for a late lunch. After lunch we stopped to do grocery shopping and at that point I was hit by a wave of exhaustion. It’s been a fun weekend, but I’m worn out – and it’s only 6:20 PM.

Since lunch was late and we’re both really tired, I doubt we’ll do much for supper; a snack if anything. I’m trying to convince myself to do a bit more house work, then I will probably curl up to watch a little TV or read a book. I suspect I’ll be in bed early tonight.

Last week of Fat Blasting Boot Camp  starts tomorrow. Can’t believe I’ve made it to the end. What ever will I do next week?
