Saturday in the Garden

Saturday was cooler, but still nice; a perfect day for working outdoors actually. In the morning I went grocery shopping and made my second Garden Center run of the season - undoubtedly not my last. Once I got home, got the groceries put away and had a snack, I hit the yard.

First thing: I planted flowers in the garden by the driveway. Knowing me, I will end up adding a few more plants but I feel better now that there is some colour there.

Once I finished with the front, I joined the Fabulous Felines in the fenced in portion of the yard.

I picked up a new container at the garden center and George had to check it out.

And here is Fred getting his catnip fix.

That was it for photos on Saturday. I was a busy bee all afternoon, and into early evening. I was pooped by the time I quit for the day. But also satisfied. I've been waiting to have a day like this, where I could work away and not have to rush off to something else.

Most likely I would have been out there again yesterday, had it not been a damp, dreary day. So I spent the day doing some much needed spring cleaning instead.

Today is sunny, but there is a wild wind out there so I'm taking the evening off.

Hmmm... maybe I should plant some catnip for my 2 goofballs. Are they actually attracted to it?

Hi Amy. I think that most cats are attracted to it. Mine love it but are quite good about just nibbling off a few leaves; my parents had a cat who would eat the plant down to the ground every time they tried to plant one. Doesn't hurt to give it a try though.

Make sure it is a catnip plant though, and not cat mint. I have seen them described as being the same thing, but my cats would disagree. I have a cat mint and they have no interest in it, but they definitely love the catnip.

Sagan - The cats may not be the best gardeners, but they make for good company. :)

I like your garden; once I plant something I'm always ready for it to bloom RIGHT NOW! LOL, your cats are really cute- they look pretty big. What breed are they?

Miz - In your climate I'm sure you could grow all kinds of fun stuff! And cats are fantabulous!

kristi - I actually have two cats, but they do look a lot alike.

Emily - They are big cats. When they were about 6 months old they were about the size I expected a full grown cat to be, and they just kept growing.

Officially, they are "Domestic" (which is feline for "mutt"), but our vet is pretty sure there is some Maine Coon in the mix. I've done some reading on Maine Coons and looked at lots of pictures, and my two definitely fit the description.
